Requirements for an effective Doctor–Patient Cooperation

Πρόληψη - Ορθοδοντικός Δρ. Ζαρμπή

The success of an orthodontic treatment requires a qualified physician and a conscientious patient.

Given the complexity of orthodontic problems and the variety of alternative treatments, a physician must have a profound theoretical knowledge, clinical experience and the ability to conceive and execute the proper treatment plan. Only when the conditions mentioned above are met, can the orthodontist correctly recognize the type of orthodontic problem, and implement the proper appliances for a beautiful and lasting effect.

A consistent patient is expected to:

Follow the instructions of the orthodontist in relation to the use of orthodontic devices, be punctual in his appointments, and maintain impeccable oral hygiene. Furthermore if the treatment requires dental work (fluoridation, fillings, extractions, etc.) it should be scheduled as soon as possible. Naturally, the patient must follow the instructions of the orthodontist as far as eating habits are concerned so that no broken appliances occur.

Only under these conditions will the common goal of a successful treatment in the shortest possible time be achieved.
