An Orthodontic examination may be needed if a child shows any of these warning signs:
Crowded teeth, spaces between teeth, misaligned teeth or supernumerary ones, teeth in a wrong angle, lack of space for the permanent teeth to erupt
Prolonged retention of deciduous teeth may lead to the wrong location of permanent teeth
Premature loss of deciduous (baby) teeth from decay: In this case, the space where the baby teeth should occupy until the eruption of permanent teeth is lost, due to the movement of adjacent teeth. Consequently, when the time comes for the permanent teeth to erupt there is not enough space for them, resulting to tooth crowding and related problems.
Jaws that are disproportionate to the rest of the face in terms size or location.
Shifting of the lower jaw (jaw sliding to one side even if the mouth is closed) or emitting of sound from the articulation of the lower jaw.
Difficulty in chewing and biting
Bad habits such as nail/pencil biting
Mouth breathing, snoring, restless sleep
Teeth grinding during sleep
